Dream Herb - Calea Z (Calea Zacatechichi) Double-Extracted Tincture

Calea Zacatechichi is native to Mexico and Central America, and has a history of use by the Mayan, Zoque, Mixe, and other peoples who are native to the area. It has been said that the Mayans primarily use Calea Z for mental clarity and gastrointestinal issues, though apparently it may also help with fevers and hangovers.

Affectionately referred to as the "Dream Herb" or "Calea Z", this plant is an oneirogen -- meaning that it creates or enhances dreamlike states of consciousness. Calea Z is often used to facilitate lucid dreaming, produce more engaging and dreams with a more cohesive narrative, and to support dream recall.

The Oaxacan Chontal people reportedly use this plant in certain divination rituals in which the herb is smoked, made into a tea, or the leaves are placed under the pillow before sleeping to induce divinatory dreams.

For most people, Calea Z may bring dreamlike states of consciousness, clarity in the dream world, and help with dream recall. I personally use this plant when I need to access to realms, beings, and information that would normally be separated from our reality. "Activating" this plant with personal ritual or meditation may help to connect with its beneficial effects.

"With the aid of EEG to measure participants’ brainwaves, Mayagoitia showed superficial stages of sleep were improved, instead of the deep slow wave sleep and REM sleep stages. It did seem, however, that during the earlier stages of sleep, there was an increase in hypnagogic imagery."
