You will need:
Fresh, willing flower(s)
Spring water
High proof alcohol - brandy is traditional, but you can use whatever you like
Crystal or glass dish with no writing on it
Amber bottle
Short Instructions:
1) Get consent from the flower, and leave an appropriate offering if possible.
2) Pick the nicest flowers and solar infuse them in spring water for 2 hours. Try not to touch the flowers or water with your bare hands.
3) Remove the flowers and put the infused water into an amber glass bottle - fill it up halfway.
4) Fill the rest of the bottle up with your alcohol of choice.
5) This is your Mother Essence, which you will make all of your other Flower Essences from. Label & date bottle clearly. I also include planetary information at this time.
6) To make your Flower Essence, get a separate container (small amber glass dropper bottle ideally) and place 5-10 drops of your Mother Essence into it.
7) Fill the bottle with 50/50 plain spring water and alcohol.
8) Agitate the bottle in your preferred way. This is what I consider to be "waking up" or activating the Flower Essence.
. : .
The first step in creating an effective flower essence is to get consent from the flower. Tune in and identify whether the flower(s) in question would like to to be made into a medicine. This shamanic, consent-based connection between the plant and the medicine maker is what sets flower essences apart.
If you don't already have your own method of doing this, I suggest trying to feel what texture or sensations you experience when "plugging in" to that plant. I commonly witness plants and flowers "sparkling" at me as I walk past them. In the energetic language that I personally share with the natural world, this indicates that they would like to engage with me and have something to offer -- like they're excited and effervescent. Sometimes, the plants will practically bend over backwards to splash their frequency into my awareness and grab my attention. Give yourself permission to have these sorts of conversations and exchanges with plant consciousness, and notice what you feel naturally drawn to.
It is said that flowers are where the plant focuses its qi.
Once a flower has caught your attention, you may whisper your invitation for collaboration... and if you feel the orb of her aura leap a little bit -- to me this feels like juice spilling out of a ripe mango or children playing -- that qualifies as an Enthusiastic Yes. Please feel free to take time getting centered and consulting your own intuition about what sensations and messages you are receiving from your natural surroundings. Try not to doubt yourself.
Once the flower has agreed to offer up its frequency for this medicine, you may pick the flower or create the essence with the flower still attached to the plant. (If you can pull this off, it is really cool.) If it is a large flower, just one will suffice... If the flowers are small, you may want to pick a bunch of them. Try not to touch the flowers with your hands if possible. Pluck it by the stems, or use some twigs or a leaf from the plant when touching the flowers.
Now we are going to infuse the flower's energy into spring water! You can use high quality bottled spring water, or harvest some wild spring water in your area. Make sure whatever water you use is something you are comfortable ingesting (this will be diluted 50% with alcohol, and the dosing for flower essences is 1-4 drops on the tongue). I believe that using spring water from your region is ideal for this practice.
Pour an ounce or so of your spring water into a glass dish (a crystal bowl is even better if you have one) - make sure that your vessel doesn't have any writing or old labels on it. Remember that our spring water is very susceptible to whatever thought forms are being placed upon it.
Once your fresh 'n happy blossoms have been picked, place them in the dish of spring water, face down. Let the flower(s) infuse into the water for at least an hour or two. Make sure you use only the most pristine blossoms for this - it keeps the message clear and pure.
Some people believe that the light of the sun must be used for this infusion process to be most effective. I have also infused my flower essences in thunder storms and starlight and made very powerful essences this way. I consult the plant first before making this decision. Again, please follow your intuition and try not to doubt yourself. You are already made of magic and can access all the secrets of the Universe when you'd like to. Your essences will become more powerful over time, as you learn to hear the plants more clearly.
Now you can bottle up your essence. Remove the flowers without touching the water, and pour it into an amber dropper bottle. Fill the bottle halfway with this infused water, then fill the other half with your high proof alcohol. Brandy is the traditional choice for flower essences, but I've also used tequila, absinthe, honeyshine, and rum. This is your Mother essence (and you must do what she says because she’s the mommy, that’s why). Label it, date it, and store in a cool dark place if possible.
To make ready-to-use flower essences we will dilute this Mother essence even further. In a separate amber dropper bottle, place a few drops of your Mother essence (5-10). Then fill the bottle half way with alcohol, and top it off with more plain spring water (not infused). Shake up your bottle, roll it around in your palms, and dance it awake. Ask the spirit of the flower to share its message in this essence.
Dose: For best results, place 1-4 drops on the tongue 1-4x per day.
